About

A New York practice,
based in Singapore

Baseline Psychotherapy was founded in New York in 2019 and is based in Singapore today, working online with professionals and expats in more than 21 countries. I built this practice as an expat, across six countries, so Singapore's particular mix is familiar territory: the performance culture, the identity that lives in a laptop, the exhaustion that hides behind a good package, the distance from everyone who knew you before your job title.

I am J.R. Hernandez, psychotherapist, specialized in burnout and mood disorders: trained in Medical Neuroscience at Duke University School of Medicine, with the American Psychological Association's specialization in anxiety and mood disorders and a master's degree in emotional intelligence. My practice holds a 5.0 rating across 22 Google reviews, and my clinical work is built on the Baseline Psychotherapy Protocol, the process-based method I created and published as a manual.

Therapy in Singapore

Therapy for the life
you actually live here

I work with the problems that high-performing lives produce and hide: burnout that rest no longer fixes, anxiety that runs the day from underneath, depression that coexists with excellent functioning, and emotional regulation that has quietly eroded. If that is your situation, my page on therapy for expats and my work on expat burnout go deeper. Individual therapy is the core of my practice; I also work with couples navigating the strain that international life puts on a relationship.

Most private practices in Singapore run waiting lists. Mine works differently: I keep evening slots (7 to 10 pm Singapore time) and weekend availability precisely because demanding schedules are my specialty, and a first session can usually happen within the week. Starting takes three lines on WhatsApp: what has been happening, how long, and what you have already tried. You do not need to arrive with it organized.

Sessions & Pricing

How do sessions
in Singapore work?

Private therapy in Singapore typically runs between S$150 and S$250 per session, often unpublished. My rates are public by policy: a structured 60-minute session is $120 USD (about S$155), and the first conversation is free. If you are comparing options, my full guide to therapy costs in Singapore breaks down the market.

Focused Session

Online via Google Meet · 30 minutes

$60USD / session

One topic, full attention. A specific decision to untangle, a professional consultation on what you are going through, a follow-up between full sessions, or maintenance after completing a process. Goal-directed and solution-focused.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

My practice is fully online by design: it is how I keep evening and weekend availability, start without waitlists, and continue working with clients when they travel or relocate. Sessions run on Google Meet.

Both, including switching mid-sentence if that is how you think. For Spanish speakers in Singapore, there is a dedicated page in Spanish.

Evening slots between 7 and 10 pm on weekdays, plus weekend availability. Scheduling is built for demanding calendars: sessions hold their weekly place, and changes are handled directly by WhatsApp.

Sessions are private-pay. Some international insurance plans reimburse online psychotherapy: check your policy's outpatient mental health terms; I provide receipts on request.

For most adult concerns, including burnout, anxiety and depression, the evidence says yes when the work is structured. I wrote a full, referenced answer here.

Yes, and no. Sessions are bound by professional confidentiality; nothing is shared with employers or insurers, and paying privately means nothing enters any insurance record unless you choose to claim. Many of my clients are senior professionals precisely because discretion is structural to how I work. The general FAQ covers confidentiality online in more detail.
