The Difference

How Much Does Online
Therapy Cost?

It depends on what you are paying for.

A session here is not an hour of open conversation. It is a clinical process that begins before you connect and continues after you log off.

Before each session, your case is reviewed, progress from the previous session is assessed, and the session's clinical target is defined. Nothing is improvised. During the session, you work through structured intervention with a specialist whose training, daily practice, and clinical framework are organized around a defined set of conditions: burnout, anxiety, mood disorders, emotional regulation, and relationship distress. This is not a therapist who lists twenty-five specialties on a directory profile. This is a clinician who chose a lane and built everything around it.

After every session, you receive a written summary documenting what was covered, what was identified, and what to focus on before the next appointment. You also receive personalized tools adapted to your specific presentation, not worksheets pulled from a generic database. Progress is tracked across sessions in functional terms: sleep quality, emotional reactivity, cognitive clarity, follow-through under pressure. You will always know whether the work is producing change, and so will your therapist.

This practice does not operate on volume. The caseload is intentionally limited so that each client receives the preparation, attention, and follow-up that this level of clinical work requires. That is what the fee reflects. Not sixty minutes of someone's time, but the full clinical infrastructure around each session: the preparation before, the expertise during, the documentation after, and the availability out of sessions.

Behind every session sits the training that makes that precision possible: Medical Neuroscience from Duke University School of Medicine, a specialization in Anxiety and Mood Disorders from the American Psychological Association, and a Master in Emotional Intelligence from the Instituto de Estudios Psicológicos de España. A single session with a specialist of this profile in New York costs $300 to $400. In London, £150 to £250. In Singapore, $200 to $300. At Baseline Psychotherapy, the same depth of clinical work is available worldwide at $120 per session, because the practice is online and the overhead is different. The clinical rigor is not.

Questions About Fees & Plans

Baseline Psychotherapy is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance companies directly. Many clients with international or out-of-network coverage submit their session receipts to their insurer for partial reimbursement. If you plan to do this, confirm the terms with your insurer first. An itemized receipt is provided for every session on request.

Yes. Every plan starts with a free 15-minute consultation. It is a short, no-commitment conversation to understand what you are dealing with, answer your questions about the process, and confirm whether this practice is the right fit before you book anything. You can request it directly on WhatsApp or by email.

Sessions can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours of notice. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged in full, with exceptional circumstances evaluated case by case. For prepaid plans, sessions already delivered are not refundable, and remaining sessions can be rescheduled by mutual agreement. The complete terms are published on the Service Policies page.

Yes. Many clients start with individual sessions and move to the Monthly Plan once the work is underway, or complete the Burnout Recovery Program and continue with occasional individual sessions afterwards. Plan changes are arranged directly with J.R. and take effect at the next billing point, so you are never locked into a format that no longer matches your clinical needs.

Reduced rates are considered case by case for graduate students and individuals experiencing genuine financial hardship. There is no application form. Send a message describing your situation and what you can realistically afford, and you will receive a direct answer. The number of reduced-rate places is limited, so availability varies over time.

Subscription apps sell access to a platform: a rotating pool of therapists, sessions that are often 30 minutes with whoever is available, and communication that happens largely through text. Here you work with the same specialist every week in structured 60 or 75-minute video sessions. Each session is prepared in advance, follows a defined clinical focus, and ends with clear direction for the week ahead. The fee reflects clinical depth per session, not access to software.
